You Are Not Lazy
You are not lazy, unmotivated or stuck.
After years of living your life in survival mode, you are exhausted.
There’s a difference.
I posted this meme on my Facebook page last week because it sounded so familiar. At some point during the coaching relationship, every single person I have ever worked with had judged themselves as being lazy, unmotivated or stuck. It never occurred to them that they might be exhausted.
The constant stress of living life these days is keeping you in survival mode and if you find it hard (or impossible) to get off the couch, volunteer for one more event, make dinner, look for a new job, start dating again, create your art, (fill in your thing here), it is NOT because you are lazy, unmotivated or stuck!
YOU. ARE. EXHAUSTED.
Can you please offer yourself some compassion? Can you give yourself permission to take a break and get some rest? I know that taking a break is pretty challenging – I have struggled with that my whole adult life which is why I am always encouraging you to do it (we teach what we most need to learn!).
It’s also why I have been studying something called yoga nidra which loosely translates into “yogic sleep” and has been a huge part of helping me recover from stress and the sleep deprivation that comes from being a middle aged woman. If you would like to know more about this practice, please check out the upcoming Radical Restorative sessions – one next week and one in December.
Please stop believing that there is something wrong with you because you don’t feel like doing anything and please stop believing that being tired is normal.
Cut yourself some slack, give yourself a break and find a way to get some rest. You deserve it, my sweet friend!
